We are Vietnamese Americans. Thirty-one years ago, we fled our birth country in pursuit of freedom in America. This great nation had generously given us, not only freedom, but also opportunities to reconstruct our life. We have been enjoying our freedom and over thirty peaceful years in America thanks to your selfless sacrifices. You have voluntarily served to defend our country, protect our way of life and our safety here at home. We gratefully cherish the freedom you have given us. Regardless of what some ill-informed people think or say, we support and honor you. We are profoundly indebted to your noble service.
We wish you a Merriest Christmas and a Happy New Year. But more importantly, we wish you a speedy recovery. Take care and God bless.

We believe we understand what freedom means better than most. We used to be political refugees from Vietnam; we took life and death risk seeking freedom in America. And we understand Freedom is Not Free and we do not take this precious freedom for granted. We have been living a free and peaceful life in the past three decades thanks to the brave and courageous members of our armed forces like you. We write to let you know we are grateful to you and we owe you a lot for protecting us here at home. We are supporting you and we honor your service to our great nation. Christmas is rapidly approaching, we wish you a wonderful Christmas, a Happy New Year and a speedy recovery.

After the collapse of South Vietnam in April 1975, hundreds of thousands of our country people fled our motherland to avoid communist reprisal and to seek freedom in America. We had to leave our lifetime savings, paid real estate property and many relatives behind in exchange for a peaceful life in a free society. And we have been enjoying over thirty years of peace and freedom in America thanks to you and your friends in uniform. Peace and Freedom in America did not come without the selfless sacrifices from courageous men and women like you. We Vietnamese Americans wish to express our profound and heartfelt appreciation to your noble service to our great nation. May God give you the strength and bless you for a speedy recovery. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
